OutreachOne of the unique features of a Spearhead Mission is the place it gives to reaching people where they are with the Gospel.
After the analysis of the area it is possible to pin-point key opportunities where large numbers of people can be effectively reached through specially designed events in the churches as well as where they are in the community. Some typical events during a mission are:

Children`s
"Kid`s Bonanza" and existing children`s groups
The children`s ministry of a church often gains so much from the team either coming into the existing children`s work, or organising a special event for the children to invite their friends.
Youth
"Mega Mix" and existing youth groups
The young people of a church can use these times to bring their friends to something different and exciting, but yet which links into their regular activities.
"Specially
for Men"
Men are often the most difficult to reach, but a well thought out programme, often in a neutral venue, involving variety, can reach men who may be on the fringe of things. They often appeal to special interest groups eg. sport, business etc.
Women in
focus"
These are often well attended and are suitable for all ages with a definite female emphasis.
Senior
Citizens meals and specials
The older folk in the church and their friends and neighbours appreciate this light approach. Many have come to a real faith in Christ through them.
Meal with a
message
Often these attract those people on the fringe of the church, and are ideal occasions to reap a spiritual harvest through a relaxed presentation of music and message.
Mums and
toddlers groups
Many mums who would not normally come to church can be contacted through a simple programme and personal chat.
Home groups
inviting neighbours and friends
Great ways of getting the neighbours and friends to meet the team in a low key way.
Schools
visits
Entrance is sought into every primary and secondary school in the area. Our team is very experienced in taking lessons and assemblies in a sensitive way, respecting the educational nature of the situation.
Industry
It is possible through negotiation with management and unions to be able to either address the workforce or speak to them personally.
Pubs and clubs
With the landlord`s permission we have often spoken to people either personally or undertaken entertaining, yet challenging presentations.
Open Airs
A well designed programme can reach hundreds who would not normally attend church.
Professional
and organisational dinners/ pub meals
Many professional people, women, working men and those who would not feel happy coming to a meeting in a church, often respond to such an event put on in an appropriate venue.
Youth clubs
and leisure centres
Going to young people in their own location or else organising an event such as a 5-a-side football tournament can often win their confidence and a hearing.
"March for
Jesus"
This is a very high profile and yet joyful way of publicising the mission and meeting the people in the locality.
All these are ways of reaching people "where they are", and together with the personal witness of the churches (see Training) lead up to major high-profile events (see High Profile Events) where the Gospel can be presented in a clear and challenging way. They also provide open doors of opportunity for the churches to continue after the `mission` is over.
