The Team The TeamThe Spearhead team offers a wealth of experience and ability. Under the leadership of Keith Wills, (Click here for a biography), the team is made up of:
Experienced
Christian leaders who act as a resource agency helping and
stimulating the local committee responsible for organising the
mission.
This is a great help to the smooth running of a mission in that the many lessons learned from previous missions can be passed on in an atmosphere of cooperation and Christian fellowship. The members of the local "action group", usually made up of both lay and "full-time" leaders from across the denominations, each has a specific area of responsibility eg.
Chairperson
Prayer
Finance
Counselling and
follow-up
Publicity
Stewarding
Outreach
programme
Venue etc.
Each of these is complemented by a member of the Spearhead Team who can give help in that specific area. eg. the prayer coordinator on the local committee can have invaluable assistance from the person responsible for prayer on the Spearhead team etc. Incidentally prayer is an essential part of our work and we hold monthly prayer meetings, under the Spearhead team prayer coordinator, Mrs Wendy Willescroft, as well as specific prayer for each mission in the preparation stage, during the mission, and after the mission has finished. Lay people
Over the years a growing number of lay people have come with us on mission. Each is gifted by God in a specific area, but each has the ability to lead people to Christ. We have found them an invaluable asset. One church leader has said:
"Some of the people who have responded have been prayed for for over twenty years, but the team have the ability to bring people to the place of decision"
We also seek to encourage local lay people in their ministry as part of the mission, enabling others to discover their gifts, even providing "on the job experience" through the mission programme. (Click here for more information on training
Full time
workers brought in to specialise in specific kinds of evangelism
We have many agencies eg. "Northern Evangelical Trust" who assist us in offering that extra dimension to a mission through ministry in schools, open air evangelism, music etc. The aim of a Spearhead Mission is to saturate the area with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Having this availablity is a wonderful resource. A vital part of the mission is the encouragement we receive from local participation from those already working full - time in the area in ongoing evangelism and pastoral care.
