Seaside Rock - The Story
The words and music of the 60s
"Southern Scene" and the Beat Group that
transcended a generation.
The "Southern Scene" of the early
1960s - the combination of rock'n'roll music, beat groups, venues, promoters and
teenage audiences that existed along the south coast of England - was a
flourishing one.
At that time Mike Devon and The Diplomats were
one of the foremost "beat groups" along the South Coast and
surrounding area. They played as support band to The Beatles, Gerry and The
Pacemakers, Eden Kane and many others.
Mike Devon & The Diplomats - 1962
Almost 30 years later the group members were
reunited and re-launched their musical careers, both individually and in support
of Scott McKeon, son of ex-Diplomats lead guitarist Geoff McKeon.
Mike Devon & The Diplomats - 1992
By 1999, when Geoff McKeon sadly died, 13
year-old Scott was gigging regularly with his own blues band.
The book "SEASIDE ROCK" is the story
of two generations of rock and blues musicians.
To accompany the book a CD by
Mike Devon and The Diplomats is now available.
