A 'New English' Music
These web pages are all about Leicestershire based band BLACK RAT and the music they play. The website includes details of forthcoming gigs, profiles of band members and sound files of the music.
BLACK RAT were formed in the Autumn of 2002. The music is a mix of original material, rock and folk, a 'New English' style combining modern and traditional elements. The instruments include guitar, drums and bass but also the distinctive sound of mandolin and flute.
July News:
The new album "RICH PICKINGS" should be available in the next few weeks.
We had a few specially prepared 'promo' copies which we sold/ gave away/ forced on the audience at the
BIG SESSION Festival in June.
We played a set showcasing much of the new material and
the response we had was very good and we are all very pleased with the results.

Sadly we have to report the demise of one of the best sites on the Net for downloading Folk and related music.
Our friends at WOVEN WHEAT WHISPERS have decided to call it a day after their site was repeatedly hacked.
We wish them and all the other artists who used the site all the very best in the future.
Finally, the main site here is having a re-vamp and will be slimmed down as Liz is doing such a good job on MYSPACE.
