About me

I came into counselling through a background in working with survivors of rape and child sexual abuse. It was during this time that my interest in counselling developed.

After some thought I decided to embark on a 5-year training plan. Which culminated in me successfully completing a 4-yr counselling Diploma.

Although my initial training was in the psychodynamic model, I now counsel in an integrative way. I have continued with my professional development by undertaking training in more specialist areas such as Self-injury, Domestic violence, Loss and bereavement, Sexual abuse/Rape etc.

In the past I have counselled for both Basingstoke and Alton Counselling Services, Test Valley Borough Council Employee Support Scheme and Basingstoke Rape & Sexual Abuse Crisis Ctre.

Since my initial 'core' training I have gained a Higher Education award: Certificate in Advanced Professional Studies (C.A.P.S.), in counselling Children and Adolescents.

In addition to my private practice I have also worked since 1999 within a youth work environment.

I counsel and support both adults and young people in my private practice - KC Counselling Services and I adhere to the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (B.A.C.P.) Code of Ethics and Practice.
