This is a really great tour we live in the south east of England Buckingham, near Milton Keynes, so it is quite a long way.

We did come to the museum when it was first being built, but there was still a lot of work to do, we had a really nice time, I love the north east my husband is a Sunderland man.

To come on this website for such a great tour has made me decide to come and visit Beamish in the summer again.

Thank you for the tour.

I first learnt of Beamish Museum whilst watching Blue Peter as a child. Since that time I wanted to visit and eventually did so some 9 years ago.

I have just returned from a further visit. On this occasion we had our 8year old son and 5 year old daughter with us and they reacted just as we hoped they would. Keith had learned about Stephenson in school last year, so was thrilled to ride the Wagonway.

The main purpose for e-mailing is to thank you for your extremely helpful site which we consulted on numerous occasions before our visit.

We even found our accommodation with your help! We learnt about the "Church Mouse" via the site and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

Thanks for the hints, keep up the good work

Janet

Excellent site for me as I am now planning a visit and it is obviously a place you love, as you present it in such a wonderfully personal manner. The more I see/read the sooner I want to be there - my friend and I are palnning to take our three 6-year olds camping locally in the summer with the sole purpose of visiting. Our children love learning about the past and have been learning all about the Victorian era at school just recently - it will be an educational and entertaining visit we hope.

I visited Beamish in 1993. My father was born in the area. I took a nostalgic trip down memory lane. My great-grandfather and grandfather were coalminers and were born and lived in Houghton Le Spring in County Durham in 1884. I was taken to Beamish by my cousin who is in the Cumbria constabulary and I was very impressed I dearly hope to return back there one day. It is so good to see heritage preserved. Bye for now.

Orignally lived within walking distance of the museum and father still does so feel very ashamed that I've never visited. I suppose expense put me off many times as visiting with whole family after already paying airfares etc. Maybe now they're growing up we'll make the effort as it certainly looks worth it. Brings back many happy memories of growing up in Stanley!

The official site was not available - but I found your;s excellent - though the one thing I wanted to know was not specifically dealt with, or I missed it. Is Beamish open all the time? I have visited but my daughter and son-in-law want to visit late in October, so I was trying to find out if there were times when Beamish was closed??

I really like your site - it gives all the information you need to know before a visit but without unnecessary 'hard sell'! It is a great idea to have pictures as links - the download time on your site is just about right. The only critisizm (very minor) is the font - these days verdana or ariel are much easier on the eye! Great stuff!

Loved the site. Very informative. I longed to see a moving tour of the inside of some of the buildings. I visited a site which scanned a whole town square, so you felt as if you were standing there looking around. I cant get to Beamish as much as would like. It would be so good to see a little more of it. Also to send the site to friends so they can get an idea of what it is like, so they would visit. We have had some wonderful visits to the museum. So cleverly set out you rally feel as if you r going back

I think that this site is very educational and it would be great for children to visit this site as it explains a lot about past life and how people lived. I am actually going there on Saturday 2 April as my step son has just got a job in the tea rooms, so we will probably see him, unless he is in the kitchen. I will be recommending this site to friends too.

I had the pleasure of taking a tour of Beamish in May of 2000. I loved it. The tram and bus rides were great. The tour into the coal mine was exciting. The whole Museum is perfect. I hope everyone who reads this gets a chance to see it in person. They will love it.

I went to Beamish on a family trip to England when I was only 4 years old. But that doesn't keep me from remembering the best historical town-thing I've ever been too. But, I shoudn't be suprised, England has rocking museaums. Anyways, if I ever go back to there, which I will, Beamish is one place I do not plan on missing. Thanks so much for this website, it brings back so many childhood memories. I don't need pictures to remember the fog...

A very interesting and informative site. I knew little about Beabish, although I had of course heard of it - my wife and I have beeen saying for ages "we must go there". Then we saw the picture of 'The Elephant' in The Times and I found you via Altavista. I have three websites myself so I can calim to be an informed critic! I think your site is very good and loads up quickly, always with some evidence that things are happening, unlike so many gimmicky sites which I dislike. I'm 68 so that may be a factor to

I visited Beamish nearly five years ago and have never forgotten it. Unlike many museums, the staff here were so willing to stop and answer questions, they were not just there as 'actors'. We are returning this year!

Great site! I am originally from Bishop Auckland and can remember as a small girl 'The Sun Inn' being taken to Beamish. Have visited several times when back in the area. Looking forward to August when I will be 'home' again this time with lots of 'Southern' friends who are also looking forward to their trip to Beamish.

I've always wanted to visit Beamish, but am not often in the North East. Your site has whetted my appetite. Incidentally, I visited an "Ecomusée" in Alsace six weeks ago, and it is a very similar idea. They hope to open an old potassium mine to visitors soon.

This site is excellent! the best Beamish site on the internet. I was in England in 1999 and I visited Beamish with my family and we all loved it! I came looking for pictures of ink bottles and quills for an art assignment but I can't seem to find any :( But I still found time to navigate through the whole site :)

I think your site site offers clear information on what the museum is about, and what you are going to expect when you arrive. I think it was a good idea in showing all your attractions, so that whoever the reader, knows theres something for everybody! To improve the site, i would have an on-line museum, so that if you cannot come, you can still see the museum from your home.

I think this site is almost excellent: the photographs are nice, navigation around the site is clear, the info sufficient for most people who haven't got ISDN and turbo-charged pentiums to download giga-thingies very fast, the links to related sites are useful, but it's a pity there are some typos and a few slips in grammar, too. They let down the rest. When I get round to designing my own site, I'll be happy if it's half as good!

I regret that I have only once paid a visit to Beamish-this was in 1990-and never had a chance to visit this remarkable museum since that time. I can remember when I did pay my one and only visit it was a rainy day. This however-did not distract the feeling I had of really going back in time-the waiting room at the railway station-the coke fire burning-the rain outside enhanced that very dream of going back in time-So real. Thanks for the site From down under Michael
