Verica lives in Harlow, Essex, with her husband, Graham. She has a grown up son, Neil, daughter Tanja and three young grandsons, Sam, Joe and Joshua.
Born in Croatia, ex Jugoslavia, Verica came to England at 16, completed her education and, after other jobs, qualified as a Secondary school teacher in her forties. She taught Commerce, English, Drama and German.
Despite a massive stroke at 48, she was back in the classroom two years later and taught on supply for many years.
Although retired, she is very busy writing articles and poetry; she is also involved in voluntary work, helping to raise money for the British Adaptive Ski team (formerly the British Disabled Ski Team), for whose benefit she is hoping to publish the book "NO SUMMIT TOO HIGH", on which she is currently working.
She has had several articles and poems published in various magazines, newspapers and anthologies and has won poetry prizes in Writers' Forum magazine and in a National Haiku competition. See the prize-winning Haiku at
