The League was formed in 1936 and currently comprises 38 teams which are divided into 6 Divisions. The clubs are all situated within the area stretching from Shoreham-by-sea on the river Adur, some 4 miles to the west of Brighton, along the coast to Newhaven on the river Ouse, around 8 miles east of Brighton and reaching 8 miles inland to the county town of Lewes. All League matches start at 6.00pm on Tuesday evenings from early May until mid August with breaks in early June and late July to accommodate County Competitions and the Hove Open Bowling Tournament.
