Welcome to Les Hummel's yoga site I trained at the “Yoga for Health Foundation” Ickwell, Biggleswade, and gained qualifications in teaching general and remedial yoga. Working there as one of the residential instructors, from February 2002 – March 2006. I was involved in the running of and teaching on, courses for people coping with various illnesses. I also worked as part of the team involved with the teacher training courses. The experience of working at “The Bury” being part of a group of teachers with a wide range of influences proved invaluable in developing my particular approach to teaching yoga. On the closure of the YFHF in the March of 2006 I decided to set up classes in the mid-beds area. Running my own independent classes, as well as being employed by the “Stevenage Leisure” organization, I now teach yoga throughout the mid-beds area. I also offer 1- 2-1 sessions, corporate lunch-time courses and small, private groups.

Practicing yoga will help you understand how to truly relax. The physical side of yoga will aid you in keeping your body as mobile as possible while maintaining muscle tone and improving strength. It is an ideal practice in its own right, or as part of an overall exercise program If you are new to yoga, don’t worry, you will be able to join in whatever your ability. As one of the main principles in yoga, is for you to develop a sense of self-awareness and work at level comfortable for you. “You do not come to a yoga class to hurt yourself”. There is no competition in yoga so you’re not trying to stretch further or go faster than anyone else. For some, this aspect of the practice can be the hardest thing to learn. You may find yourself in a class where there are many different levels of ability. For those with more experience in yoga, you will be free to apply your prior knowledge of the postures. I aim to facilitate each person in practicing at their level within the class. This approach comes from my extensive experience of yoga being an individual practice within a group environment . |
