North Miller's Dale Community Association Newsletter June 2007
In North Millers Dale we are lucky to have a community that many modern villages would envy and in some respects we are a bit like a traditional village with our pub and ‘village’ hall. And, like a village, people in Millers Dale do talk to each other, have pride in our environment and do things together. It was great to see that not only do our residents raise concerns about what might become of an area of our estate but are also prepared to turn out in force, roll up their sleeves and actually do something about it.

So we are hoping this year for similar enthusiasm for our forthcoming AGM because this is your forum. We would like you to come along and raise with us any subject which we might be able to deal with. Any ideas for events we might stage or any activities a group of people could engage in.

To help the evening go with a swing complimentary wine and cheese is on offer. So this will be a social evening as well. One thing we are interested in is the chronology of the estate. It is clear that the building and development of the area took place over a number of years. Quite a lot of the residents moved in as the houses were built and have remained in them since. It would be good to create an archive of original photos and anecdotes as much has changed in the last twenty odd years.

As usual for an AGM, a small but important part of the evening is the election of officers. We have a stong nucleous of dedicated members on our committee but we are always keen for new blood to join us. This need not be as full members but maybe just to get involved in particular activities. What we do need specifically, though, is a new vice chairman (person) and a new treasurer.

We know that North Millers Dale residents enjoy our organised evenings as we regularly get a good turn out and the feed back is invariably very positive. It is easy to continue going back to old favourites but new ideas keep the events fresh and original. So if you have any thoughts for an evenings entertainment you would like to see, let us know. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the support over the years and please keep it up. See you all on the 26th June in the community hall.
