General Information about Castle Combe.
Parking
There is a free public cark park at the top of the hill provided for visitors to the village. Although it is a little way to walk down the hill to the old village, it is a pleasent stroll under the trees and there is much to see on the way. There is limited parking on the hill itself, those who choose to risk the double yellow lines on the hill will be disappointed to hear that traffic wardens are a common sight even in rural areas such as this. There is very limited parking in the village, please leave this for those who live in the village itself.
STOP PRESS: There is a new focus on the parking on the hill and in the village, please park legally or expect to be caught!
Coaches
We welcome many coach visitors to the village and, as not all the passengers are able to manage the hill, the coaches often drop their customers in the old village centre. It is requested that the coaches then move to the hill or the cark park before returning to pick up their passengers rather than waiting in the village, as this makes the village centre more pleasent for everyone. A new coach park ajoining the car park at the top of the village will be added this year (2000).
Residents
Castle Combe is a living village and has a strong community. Please respect the residents who live in the village and their property. We welcome all visitors but do not appreciate some over keen visitors who feel they would like to visit the inside of houses too, or spend an excessive amount of time with noses pressed to windows.
Litter
Castle Combe regularly enters 'best kept village' competitions and the like, and has a history of doing well due to an amount of effort by the villagers. Please do not dilute our effort and spoil the village and walks around by leaving litter where you go. Bins are provided.
