Clergy The Cathedral is the Bishop's Church: it is where he has his seat, or cathedra (sometimes called a throne). It has an important role supporting the work of the Bishop in his diocese by prayer and action. The care of the Cathedral and the responsibility for its life and work rests with the Residentiary Chapter, the Dean and the Canons. In total around 300 individuals are involved with the day to day running of the Cathedral.
To see our Cathedral why not take a look at our photograph album.

Lichfield Cathedral School (+44 (0) 1543 306170/1) (lichfield.cathedral.school@cableinet.co.uk)
In 1942, Lichfield Cathedral School was founded to provide a Preparatory School education for the Cathedral Choristers together with some non-Choristers. Over the years it has developed into a school of some 230 boys and girls form the age of 4 to 13+. There are many, even within Lichfield, who believe that the Cathedral School is either still a small school for the Cathedral choristers or a musical school. This is erroneous, and the whole spectrum of the primary age group is now covered in its fullest sense.

The 24 choristers and probationers board at the school and sing for the majority of services in the Cathedral. Voice trials are held annually at the end of January, or by appointment at other times of the year.

The Friends of Lichfield Cathedral (+44 (0) 1543 306120)
are always on the look out for new members. Founded to support the Cathedral in its worship and ministry; to maintain and enhance the fabric of the building, and to support its musical activities.
