PEDIGREES AND BREEDING DETAILS

HILLSIDE BONNIE 'GINA ('GINA) 97053 v103

Bay mare, foaled 28th April 1997. Bred by Shona Harrison, Hillside Stud, Middleholm Farm, Lesmahagow,Lanarkshire, Scotland. A direct female line descendant of top show mare Hillside Bonnie Jean, who was bred at Middleholm by Shona's grandfather George, 'Gina is related to several famous Clydesdale show champions, including Craigie Superb, who won the Cawdor Cup in 1953 before being exported to Australia, Hillside Memory and her son Bardrill Expo, who became a top sire in America.

SIRE: DILLARS AMBASSADOR (Collessie Benedictine x Buttermere Bonnie)

A Clydesdale Horse Society Premium Stallion, Ambassador stood at Robert Hamilton's Dillars Stud, Lesmahagow until 1999, when he joined the long list of stallions exported overseas following his sale to Maurice Irvine of Tullymore Stud, New South Wales, Australia. Sadly he died in July 2001 at the age of only 8. One of his last British-sired foals, Dillars Regas, was exported to Canada as a yearling, and was voted 2001 All-Canadian Champion 2 year old stallion.

Collessie Benedictine was Reserve for the Cawdor Cup in 1989 and was also the maternal half brother of 1997 Cawdor Cup winner Collessie Cut Above. He was also the sire of 2000 Cawdor Cup winner Hillside Lorton Legend. Buttermere Bonnie was the first mare to produce a foal by Legend when in June 2000, she produced Hillside Lord Lyon, who is now standing as a stallion at his sire's former home with Shona Harrison..

DAM: BROCKLOCH BELLE (Brockloch Benedictine x Brockloch Beauty)

Belle actually shares her birthday with 'Gina, and was foaled in 1982. Following a career as a broodmare, during which time she produced a number of foals, she is now enjoying a happy retirement with a loving owner in Cumbria in the North of England. Her 2nd and 3rd dams, namely Brockloch Flashgirl and Hillside Lady Jane were both bred by Shona's grandfather at Middleholm Farm, giving both Belle and 'Gina extremely close ties to the Harrison family. Several of Belle's foals have become broodmares themselves, and one of 'Gina's half brothers works in the forestry industry.

MOLLINSBURN LADY TARA (TARA) 98095 (V104)

Bay roan mare, foaled 23rd June 1998. Bred by Gavin W. Stewart, Mollinhillhead Farm, Mollinsburn, Cumbernauld, Scotland. Tara was bred by one of Lanarkshire's biggest Clydesdale breeders, and joined us in October 2002. She is a proven broodmare, having produced 2 foals, a filly, Mollinsburn Flashgirl, by Gavin's popular stallion Mollinhillhead Majestic in May 2002, and our own Misty in May 2003. Flashgirl was 1st place yearling filly at the 2003 Clydesdale Horse Society Show & Sale.

SIRE: BARLAUCHLAN IDEAL (Escraggan Perfection x Craighead Deborah)

Reserve male champion at the 1997 Royal Highland Show and reserve for the 1997 Cawdor Cup, Ideal produced a number of sucessful show horses, including Fawnspark Elizabeth, a multiple foal show prize winner. His pedigree traces back to Bardrill Castle, Golden Dawn and Doura Magnificent, three sires who have influenced bloodlines on both sides of the Atlantic. Sadly he died in December 2001. Craighead Deborah is a daughter of the celebrated Doura Sir Charles, 1989 Cawdor Cup winner and three times National Stallion Show Champion. She is also the dam of Bratlach Refiner, now based with Gavin Stewart, and a uterine half sister to premium stallion Doura Resolve.

DAM: FARMLANDS FIONA (Maidenplain Trademark x Tannerhall Queen)

A paternal grand-daughter of 1973 Cawdor Cup winner Bardrill Enterprise, Fiona served Gavin very well as a broodmare, producing a number of prize-winning fillies. One of these daughters, Mollinhillhead Fair Lady, won Supreme Champion at two Scottish Shows in 2003. Finoa's dam was by the successful stallion Millisle Commander, a son of 1962 Cawdor Cup winner Muirton Security. As well as Fiona, Maidenplain Trademark also sired two Cawdor Cup winners, the full brothers Torrs Pointsman (1983) and Bardrill Refiner (1982).

DOWNLANDS MISTY DAWN (MISTY)

Bay mare, foaled 14th May 2003. Bred by Downlands Clydesdale Stud, Coulsdon, Surrey. (Mating breeder - Gavin Stewart, Mollinsburn, Cumbernauld). Misty is the first of hopefully many foals to be bred at Downlands Stud. A most exciting addition to the Downlands Team, she will hopefully prove to have a big future ahead of her, both in the show ring, and as a broodmare. Extremely well bred, Misty's pedigree includes such notable clydesdales as Doura Masterstroke, Doura Excelsior and Bardrill Enterprise, sires that have left their mark on the Clydesdale breed, both here and overseas, throughout the last decades.

DOWNLANDS BAMBI

Bay Gelding, foaled 1991

Sadly we know nothing about Bambi's breeding, mainly due to the fact that male Clydesdale foals who are not destined to be stallions or who are gelded at a very young age, are not required to be registered with the Clydesdale Horse Society. We do not feel however that this makes any difference to him as an example of the breed or the affection we hold him in. Given Bambi's acheivements in a variety of disciplines, we are sure whoever did breed him would be proud of him.
