JENNY CURTIS

JENNY CURTIS was born in Solihull in 1963. She began studying the cello at the age of eleven. Jenny attended the Royal Northern College of Music where she studied with Raphael Sommer and Donald McCall. During this time she was awarded many prizes and scholarships and was also invited to take part in masterclasses given by some of the world's leading cellists: Ralph Kirshbaum, Maurice Gendron and the televised BBC masterclasses with Paul Tortelier. Jenny was also a finalist in the LPO Pioneer Young Musician of the Year Competition.

Since leaving College Jenny has played with many of Britain's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the CBSO and the Hallé, and was a member of the Philharmonia Orchestra for five years. Jenny is now a professor at the Royal Northern College of Music and she very much enjoys teaching both at college and privately at home.
