Housing Many exotic pets including spiders and reptiles end up being neglected or abandoned after a short period of time. The reason for this is lack of knowledge on the owners part. If you must make a purchase of any animal then please research what you are letting yourself in for. I wouldn't want to put you off in any way but I cannot stress this more, use this site to answer your questions, if you can't find what your looking for then E-mail me, read books and try to buy your spider and equipment from a specialist rather than a large retail outlet. You will find more information by talking to people in a smaller shop rather than a larger outlet since larger outlets have more staff and not all of them may specialise in tarantulas. There was a report I watched on TV about a man who had purchased a Chilean Rose tarantula, the shop assistant did not give the man enough information or guidance. This resulted in the man receiving several sessions of eye surgery. He had not been prewarned about the hair kicking habits of certain tarantulas, held his spider near his eyes and therefore suffered the consequence of irreparable eye damage. |

The moral of the story: |

KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT BEFORE PURCHASING YOUR TARANTULA!!! Years of pleasure can be had if the above rule is noted and injury will not occur either to you or your pet |
