TMA reflectionTMA03 from Module 2 - "Douglas Engelbart - A Man ahead of his Time".This was a 1500 word ‘web report’ in HTML format incorporating both internal and external links, using the Web authoring skills we had already learned in Module 1. We were instructed to use the Web as an additional resource for our report and provide references for material. I decided on the second title:-
|
| “Choose one personality from Module 2 and examine their impact upon the IT industry, using the web as an additional resource for your answer. You should describe their achievements, discuss the different views there are of the impact this had upon the industry and offer your opinion of how their personality was significant in this.” |

I chose Douglas Engelbart, best-known as the Father of the Mouse, and I found him a fascinating
subject. There was a great deal of information about him on the Web, including his own
Bootstrap Organisation web site. I was extremely pleased with my resulting score of 94%.
Tutor Feedback.Tutor feedback for TMA03.  In his feedback, my tutor made three main comments regarding my assignment:-1/. Although my presentation was excellent, he cautioned me against complication and recommended a much more straightforward approach to the ECA using the template provided. 2/. I tried to give as comprehensive a set of references as possible (bearing in mind the quantity of information I had gathered for the assignment) but he felt that this was approaching overkill and requested that I use the actual URL rather than a description of the link. 3/. His main point, a recurring theme in his feedback after assignments, was that I was "developing the tendency to overdo the brief", which he felt was not a good idea.
Post-assignment Reflection.I doubt if I will change my method of working substantially as a result of the specific feedback received for TMA03 although I do understand that I generally do more work than is required. In light of my score of 94%, I do not feel I could have improved greatly upon my performance.
