“In April 2006 I found myself sitting in yet another Brighton traffic jam. I’d not moved for about ten minutes and most of the cars around me still had their engines running. There had been a discussion that morning on the radio about eco-logical footprints*. They said that some people had taken to planting trees every time they flew away on holiday to ease their conscience. I figured I would need to plant a small rain forest to ease mine. I looked at the long line of stationary traffic belching out carbon and decided then that I needed to do something. This company is the result.”

Biocabs
Launched in August 2006, Biocabs is the brain child of Michael Lurcook. He has sort to provide Brighton with its first dedicated Eco friendly Private Hire Airport service. The only private hire company in Brighton to run its fleet on Pure Plant Oil or Bio-Diesel - a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels.
Why are Biocabs greener than other Brighton Private Hire Companies?
There are now over 1000 taxi cabs operating in Brighton and Hove. The vast majority of these are fueled with either diesel or petrol. A small number have converted to LPG (liquid petroleum gas), which has significantly lower carbon emissions than diesel or petrol. All of these fuels are produced from non-renewable fossil fuel deposits. The effect of burning these fuels is to increase the amount of Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Carbon Dioxide is the most prominent of the greenhouse gases. This is believed to be one of the main causes of global warming. Global warming is an issue which will confront us all in the very near future.
Biocabs have had their fleet converted to run on Pure Plant Oil (PPO), or run on bio diesel until the conversion has been completed. These two fuels are without doubt the cleanest fuels on the market.
