These articles, written by Max Pickering were originally published in the British Magazine 'Practical Fishkeeping', Europe's best selling fishkeeping magazine. They appeared as a series, over a three month period, entitled 'Discus - Their care and breeding'. I am grateful to the editor, Steve Windsor, for his permission to reproduce them here, as the magazine held the original copyright.

The articles were written in 1986 and whilst I realise there have been many developments over the years, particularly with strains of Discus, Filtration and Reverse Osmosis, I hope the reader will find some relevance. Particularly if you are new to the hobby, I wish you every success with the 'King of the Aquarium'.
