Elvis' shed
It may not look
like much to you, but this glossy blue, tumbledown wreck of a shed is
in fact a part of Rock 'n' Roll's rich pantheon of legend ! When
Katie and I moved into our fab new place in 2000, the previous owner
had very kindly left both sheds packed full of old tat, including
lots of pieces of a Ford Sierra - a bonnet, a drive shaft,
headlights, a dashboard and all four tyres. Luckily, there was a
Council Collection that week and, at 2am after the Mitre Monday
Acoustic night and full of Black Sheep Ale, I spent two hours in the
driving rain carrying boxes, piles of old newspapers, old tin cans
and bits of car across the lawn, up the steps and onto a pile in the
street. You can imagine that I was starting to get a bit disgruntled
towards the end, but as I was moving the last piece of tat, what did
I find underneath but Elvis' numberplate.
The King had once been here.
