Hello and
welcome to the wonderful world of Me !
Yes, folks. Malcolm
Jeffrey. 45
years and counting. proud Husband of Katie, and proud Father of Joe
and Tom, hailing from Stourbridge, the sun-soaked sin centre of the
West Midlands in England. Jasper the cat, Oscar and Waldo the
goldfish, a collection of teddybears and a mortgage to support. And,
all told, a pretty contented geezer, really. I've always been lucky
enough to be able to find the things I like doing, stick with them,
and even earn money doing them.
so :
I discovered Programming
while doing my degree course at Leicester Poly in 1980 and,
travelling via PETs, a VIC=20, several Commodore
64s, a laptop and finally a dreaded XP pc, here I am, a Programmer by trade, working for
npower in Kingswinford.
I took the bass guitar up
in 1977 (now that IS a long time ago !) and still play the same Aria
Pro II bass live every week at “Katie
Fitzgerald's”
in Stourbridge. Come along and listen - only YOU can decide if I’m
any good after all that time (and all that beer) !
Mostly as a response to my
family saying “oh yes ? pull the other one !” after I watched the
first London Marathon and said I’d quite fancy a go, I ran my first
Marathon in 1981 in Birmingham in 3:47:15, have a pb of 2:47.40 and
have currently run 70 full Marathons in a wide variety of times
(laziness).
Anything else ? Well, I’m
a sort of classical guitarist, mostly specialising in humorous songs,
especially Jake Thackray’s and Tom Lehrer's stuff ; a frequenter of live music of vastly
differing styles ; an OK 3-ball juggler but pants with 4 ; a slow but
accurate pencil sketcher ; a collector of original Goon Show
recordings ; an occasional marquetry whittler ; a bit of a draught
beer quaffer ; the owner of a
surprising number of Elvis Costello and Yes albums ; a snooker player when I can manage ; a
photographer ; a Sci-Fi and Pratchett reader mostly ; and solver of
Rubik’s Revenge and the original Rubik’s Cube.
There really
isn’t enough time in the day...
And there you have it. I
love my wife and my little boys, do my own ironing, don’t play enough
bass, sing a bit, am lucky enough to earn money doing a job I both
enjoy and am good at, sink the odd pint, and, now I have retired my
C=64, I have a nice pc, modem and Web Site of my very own. presented
with the infinite power and diversity of the World Wide Web, I have
mostly trawled the Net for sound files of the Simpsons, South
Park,
Wallace &
Gromit,
Pinky and
the Brain and
Monty Python to enable my pc to make silly
noises. Hurray !
Mail me...
...bye !!
