Portswood FOCUS Newsletter

• Portswood FOCUS was first produced in 1978 by Margaret Singerman.
• After more than 26 Years and 182 issues Portswood FOCUS is the longest running ward newsletter in the City.
• More than 5,300 copies of FOCUS are delivered FREE by volunteers to Highfield, Portswood, Portswood Park and St Denys.

• It is produced by local Liberal Democrats and Ward Councillors .
• It is paid for by donations from supporters and local fund-raising.

WhY FOCUS?

Everyone knows that FOCUS is the community newsletter from the

Liberal Democrats.

But why do we do it?

The obvious answer is that we provide the service to win support for Liberal Democracy and Liberal Democrat candidates. This is part of the truth. However, our different approach stems from a belief that people

• should be kept in touch,
• should be consulted,
• should be invited to take part in campaigns and
• be able to take a full part in their local communities.

In the past our opponents dismissed this as 'pavement politics'.

Now they struggle to follow our lead!
