The Harry Bowling Prize was set up in 2000 in memory of Harry, who had recently died. From 2010 it has been renamed The Harry Bowling Prize For New Writing, in partnership with the Romantic Novelists' Association.
It is held every two years, and the prize is given for the first chapter and synopsis of a novel written by anyone who has not previously published an adult novel. The novel may now have ANY urban setting, not just London, as previously.

FLASH! The Shortlist for the 2010 Harry Bowling Prize For New Writing has been announced. The Prize will be awarded in March 2010 as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Romantic Novelists' Association.
NOTE: The closing date was 30th November 2009.
Harry Bowling's publisher, Headline, generously provide a prize of £1,000 for the winner, and £100 for the runner up.
His agents, MBA Literary Agency, has until 2006 administered the prize and organised the Award Ceremony, and continue to organise the latter. Since 2006 the StorytrackS Appraisal Agency have carried out some of the administration for the Prize.
