VERSIONS OF BRIDGE HOUSE

Bridge House, like Dove Cottage and Honeysuckle Cottage, has become very much synonymous with the development of the company, initially it started as a Dealer's sign, which is shown as No 3, however Collectors clambered for a copy of this piece and this piece was retired after only 6 weeks and as such rarely comes to the Secondary Market. It was replaced by two editions, the first another Dealer's sign, shown as No 2, introduced November 1982 and retired August 1983 and then a model for Collectors No 5, which comes in three variations and spans the paint and medium change of 1985 and the later paint change of 1990, subsequently retiring in December 1990. The Dealer's sign was superseded by a much thinner version No 4, which was current from August 1983 to December 1984. Both of these flat back dealer sign are extremely difficult to find. There place was taken initially by Gulliver and then by Scroll on the Wall.

RIGHT version 0-2, no back stamp, but embossed, 'BRIDGE HOUSE' PRE 1985 Medium & Paints, 59 grams.

Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the Post 1990 paint, as soon a one become available this picture will be updated. Usually I show each elevation and the base for the cottages, however, there are no back stamps on the earliest pieces or labels, so there is no benefit in showing the additional elevations..

Well as you have probably guessed the story did not end in 1990, but continued in various forms until December 2003, whilst these five pieces have no relevance to my research on the paint and medium variations of 1985 and 1990, I thought Collectors may be interested to see the development of Bridge House, which is very closely allied to the progress of Lilliput Lane from 1982 to date.

LEFT version 1991-1, Bridge House 1991,embossed 'Bridge House Lilliput Lane Made in England@1991' Available from February 1991 until September 1998.
LEFT CENTRE version 1995-1, Bridge House in Winter, free in USA, Belgium & The Netherlands with a minimum purchase from current stock, A few were sold later in the UK for £8.50, Available from August 1995 until December 1995.
CENTRE version 1996-1, Bridge House, Dream Miniature,, was produced as part of the dream miniature collection and was available as one of a set of 12 purchased by mail order from Hamilton gallery, for the period may 1996 until may 1997.
RIGHT CENTRE version 2000-1, Bridge House, Ambleside, produced in conjunction with the Publishers of Beatrix Potter, bearing an additional Beatrix Potter back stamp and formed part of the Beatrix Potter Collection, available from January 2001 until September 2003.
RIGHT version 2000-1SA1, this piece is identical to no 4, but with snow and about 200 unnumbered pieces were produced for an Ambleside stockist and were available from November 2003 to December 2003.
