TWO COLOUR VERSIONS OF DRAPERS FRONT ELEVATION.

The question of versions, The Pocket Guide to Lilliput Lane Cottages, suggest that the window was added to make the Version 2, if this assumption is correct, this is the only case, where a window, has been added, I respectfully suggest, it should be the other way round, for example, Dale Farm, Lakeside, Sussex Mill, Warwick Hall, Inglewood and Chine Cot, to name a few, all had windows removed. I understand, that in the early days this was to cut down of cost of painting etc. With this in mind I contacted David Tate, founder in 1997. he responded " With reference to Drapers, I certainly cannot remember adding any windows, You are right to suggest we have never done that"

The upshot of this is whether you have a version with or without windows, it is a very rare piece and worthy to grace, any collection. Regrettably I only own the one on the right, which by way of the thinner label, maybe an earlier offering. Whilst on the question of labels, on these early pieces, there is no continuity regarding, sticking them on, as currently if you hold the front of a cottage, then rotate 90% away from you it will always show the label the correct way up.

LEFT version 1-2, single line back stamp, I would suggest that this cottage is grey dip, 167 grams.
RIGHT version 1-2, single line back stamp, 157 grams.
