The Room at the Top folk club meets on Monday nights at:

The Red Lion Hotel

Ash Brow, Newburgh

Start time is 8-30pm and we finish at 11.00pm on the dot.

SPECIAL GUEST NIGHT!!

On Monday 13th July the club will have an exception to our usual night when

TOM BLISS

will be our guest for the evening

Tom is an excellent singer of traditional and traditional style songs and also includes songs by

modern writers such as Richard Thompson, Ry Cooder and George Papavgeris in his set.

Here is what other people think:

"Tom gave us a highly entertaining evening. He is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist (including mandocello, guitar, concertina, fiddle and whistle), a fine singer and storyteller. He provided a varied programme of traditional, contemporary and self-composed songs and tunes, presented in an energetic and engaging manner."

“Tom conjured up little-known but thoroughly riveting songs, writing down tradition for today, the thoroughly modern troubadour. He took the audience on a genial magical mystery tour, popping in songs where history interest or stories fascinated him, his beloved Channel Islands or his vanished family inheritance, which disappeared when his ancestors sold the mill in Chipping Norton - a good finisher, that!

Please note that the night will be introduced by a few songs from Mark Dowding and then straight into Tom's set. Because of our policy of finishing at 11-00pm we wish to give Tom time for 2 full sets and therefore we will not be asking for floor singers. We hope you appreciate this arrangement for the evening and will sit back in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy the entertainment.

There will be an increased admission price of £3 on the night (The club will be subsidising Tom's fee)
