NEWS:

20th January 2007

You will find many new mp3 clips on the media page. There is a selection from the Halfmoon gigs on 7th May and 10th December last year. They were recorded through the mixing desk by the Halfmoon's sound engineer and have had no other processing other than to reduce the bitrate so that they will fit on this (very limited space) website. Enjoy.

14th January 2007

We have had confirmation of a return gig at the Halfmoon in Putney on 25th March. See the gig page for more details.

11th December 2006

What a stormer at the Halfmoon last night? Another fantastically appreciative crowd (a very good size considering that the Flower Kings and Frost were also playing in London last night) including none other than John Hackett and his friend and lyricist Nick Clabburn. I chatted with them for quite a long time after the gig and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves and were full of praise indeed. John and Nick, many thanks for attending. They surely are a couple of top blokes.

13th September 2006

We have had confirmation of a return gig at The Wheatsheaf in Cheltenham on 2nd December. See the gig page for more details.

10th September 2006

What a fantastic night at The Wheatsheaf Inn in Cheltenham last night. A very enthusiastic and appreciative crowd turned out for a fabulous evening of the greatest era of prog rock. Err, that would be the 70s in case you are in any doubt.

22nd June 2006

8th May 2006

We had a superb evening at the Halfmoon in Putney last night. Another great crowd turned up and we had an absolute blast. This time Ralph McTell was there. We have been invited back again to the Halfmoon and will be arranging another visit later in the year. Keep an eye on the gig page for more details.

Neil will be playing drums with the John Hackett Band on his upcoming tour next year. Yes, that is THE superb John Hackett brother of the one and only Steve Hackett. They will be rehearsing during March and April with a British tour commencing in May 2006. Neil will still playing with The Progs but, for obvious reasons, could not turn down an opportunity like this.

19th December 2005

I am delighted to announce the arrival of Pete Kirby and Tony Lewis. Yes, we have been fortunate enough to find two dedicated and talented prog heads to replace Doug and Shaun. An intensive period of rehearsing is to take place over the next few weeks followed by a number of gigs. Keep an eye on the gig page for more details.

3rd December 2005

"It is my sad duty to inform you ..." of the departure of Doug Melbourne and Shaun Hunt. Both have decided they need more time in their private lives. They will both be sadly missed not only as co-founding members of The Progs and talented musicians but as friends. Best wishes to you both. The rest of us intend to carry on and so the search is on for like-minded, talented musicians to fill the shoes of both Doug and Shaun. No easy task.

This band has had more personnel than Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and in a fraction of the time !!

30th November 2005

We had a fantastic evening at the Half Moon in Putney on the 27th November. Even though 'twas a very cold Sunday evening at the end of November a great crowd turned up including John Mitchell (Kino, Arena and John Wetton fame), most of ReGenesis, representatives from Invisible Touch, G2 and Genesis In the Cage. The audience had a great time and we were very well received. We have been invited back to the Half Moon and will be arranging another visit in May 2006. Take a look in the reviews section for a look at what people had to say about us at the Half Moon.

8th November 2005

The Old Vic, Swindon have postponed our first visit. They want us to reschedule early next year. Apologies to all who have been making arrangements to see us there. We are still booked to play at the Half Moon in Putney on 27th November. See the gig page for more details.

22nd July 2005

After much searching and many auditions for a new vocalist, we have found an excellent replacement in Mark Foster who has joined the band. We are again back to rehearsing, with a break for summer holidays, to prepare for our next bout of gigs hopefully to commence in November - check the gig page for more details. We are also to start work on a two track demo to include Firth of Fifth and Karn Evil 9. When it's complete we will put some clips on the media page. Check in here to found out when.

Sadly, our vocalist, Sam Blue has decided to leave the band due to family commitments. The search for a new vocalist is underway. If anyone is interested in auditioning for the role please contact us at TheProgs@tesco.net.
