This is an attractive,
early 2 valve battery receiver, made in 1930 by Kloster-Brandes.The receiver is housed in
a "walnut" bakelite case, with the cone loud-speaker built into the lid. Both LW
and MW are available by switching and the receiver is tuned by a dial calibrated 0-100
deg.The set measures 7.25" x 7.25" x 7.25" when closed.Power requirements
are 2volts LtT and approximately 90 volts HT (B+).In 1930 ,the price of the receiver was
$52 dollars,but interestingly,smokers (heavy!)of Best Dark Virginia cigarettes,could
obtain a set by sending in the coupons from no less than 5000 cigarettes.Seventy years
later, these receivers have become desirable collectors items. The price of
this receiver is,which is in very good original condition and working order,is $495 US
Dollars, which includes the cost of air freight to the USA.
