LEAK Point One TL/12 Tube Amplifier.

This much sought-after amplifier, became justly famous, as the first to offer point one (0.1%) harmonic distortion;all the more remarkable, when it is remembered that this was back in 1949.The amplifier uses KT66 tubes(triode connected) for a power output of 12 watts.Input sensitivity 160mV,output impedance 2,7-9,15-20 and 28-36 ohms.Frequency response 20Hz to 20kHz,signal to noise level 80dB at 10 watts.Feedback 26dB.The manufacturers,H.J.Leak leaktl12.jpg (10871 bytes) & Company of London, sold 731 TL/12 amplifiers to broadcasting authorities around the world in 1950,including the BBC,the South African B.C.,the Swiss B.C. and the Italian B.C.etc.It is a measure of the high quality of the amplifier and the respect accorded to it, that over half a century ago (1949), the price was in excess of $100 U.S.Dollars.A superb piece of audio history and an item which all serious collectors wish to possess.The price for the TL/12 amplifier, in original condition and working order is $975 U.S.Dollars,which includes the cost of air freight to the USA.

LEAK RC/PA/U Control Unit.

This unit was manufactured specifically for use with the Leak TL/12 amplifier and is designed with fittings such that it can be mounted directly onto the TL/12.The mic input is 3mV and the unit has built in equilisation for what was then the new Decca and Columbia LP’s, together with built in equilisation for US 78’s.Radio input is 50 mV,with selector switch,treble,bass and h.jpg (10811 bytes) volume/on/off controls and an illuminated panel light.Harmonic distortion is 0.05%.This is the scarcest of all the Leak pre-amplifiers,not ,as is popularly believed , because few were made,but because most of these units were re-built for the owners,by Leak,as Varislope units.You will wait for a very long time indeed,to find another equally fine example of this unit,which is in unmodified,all original condition and working order. In consequence of the scarcity of these control units,the value now exceeds that of the TL/12 main amplifier.The price for the Leak RC/PA/U Control Unit, is $1085 U.S.Dollars,which includes the cost of air freight to the USA.
