Quad AM 3 Tuner.
This most interesting tuner, was made by the famous
Accoustical Manufacturing Company,of Huntingdon,England. The reason that it is especially
interesting, is that firstly, although designed for the reception of AM transmissions,it
was made at a time when VHF/FM was the norm.Secondly, this attractive little tuner uses
tubes(valves),(there are 4 in the circuit)despite the fact ,that by the time it was made
,(probably around the late 60s or early 70s ,transistors
were in standard use for such tuners. The frequency covered by the
Quad AM Tuner, is Long wave 145-375 kcs,Medium Wave 510-1620 kcs and Short
Wave 5.8-18.5 Mcs ,making it a very versatile unit..Power requirements are 100-130
or 200-250 volts AC.The condition of this scarce collectors AM tube type Tuner, is
best described as "near new" and it is in working order.A copy of the Accoustic
Manufacturing Companys handbook for the AM3 Tuner,is included with the unit. The
price for this difficult to find item is $285 US Dollars, which includes the cost of air
freight to the USA.
Beam-Echo Ltd.,were London,U.K. based manufacturers of
good quality, HI-FI audio equipment. Most of this equipment went into collections some
years ago,but occasionally, examples of this attractively designed range still turn up.The
SPA21 HI-FI tube(valve) amplifier,made in 1959 , is described by Beam-Echo as "a
two-channel amplifier
designed to provide the highest quality steriophonic and
monophonic sound reproduction. Each channel provides a rated output of 12watts and a 3D
facility is provided to combine these outputs when the amplifier is used in conjunction
with monophonic inputs. The output tubes used are EL84s.The integral control section
is extremely flexible and incorporates every facility to compensate for deficiencies in
inputs.Total harmonic distortion is less than 0.2% at 1000cs,10 watts output. The
mains supply requires is 110-117,220-250 volts AC."This very desirable tube
amplifier, is in excellent original condition, with no modifications, retaining all of the
correct control knobs, which match in appearance, with the bronze coloured front panel. It
is in working order.A copy of the manufacturers handbook is included with this
vintage audio amplifier. The price of this collectors tube amplifier is $315 US
Dollars, which includes the cost of air freight to the USA.
