The high quality, early transistorised communications
receiver, was manufactured by the renowned RACAL company, and uses the circuitry of the
famous Wadley-Loop.Frequency coverage is 1Mcs 30Mcs and standard modes
of reception include S.S.B.There are four switch selected
bandwiths,13kcs,3kcs,1kcs and 0.2kcs.The receiver includes a
B.F.O. and 3 settings for A.G.C.The communication receiver incorporates a crystal
calibrator, providing check points at 100kcs intervals.Tuning is of digital
mechanical design, with separate tuning of Mcs and Kcs.A.F. output is to a
headphone jack on the front panel. The communication receiver will operate from 100-125 or
200-250 volts AC.
The top panel has been temporarily removed for the purpose of the purpose of allowing the internals to be seen in the photograph. The receiver is designed for rack mounting and has a standard 2U by 19" front panel. The communications receiver exhibits high standards of construction and is a desirable example of an early transistorised communications receiver by a respected UK manufacturer. It is in good used condition and in working order.A copy of the Racal manual for this receiver, which is very comprehensive and includes a full set of circuit diagrams and component layout drawings etc.,is included.,The price is$580 U.S.Dollars, which includes air freight to the USA.
Eddystone Receiver Model 730/4
The Eddystone 730/4 is a
general purpose communication receiver. It uses 15 tubes (valves) and has a frequency
coverage of 480kcs to 30Mcs,in 5 ranges;480-1120 Kcs,1.11-2.5
Mcs,2.5-5.7Mcs,5.3- 12.5Mcs and 12.3 30Mcs.The
communications receiver incorporates a 500kcs crystal calibrator, signal strength
meter,noise limiter,a crystal filter with phasing control,nominal bandwidth 500 c/s and an
audio filter centered on 1000 c/s,nominal bandwidth 100 c/s.The receiver has a 4 position
selectivity control, giving switchable bandwidths of 1.5kcs,3kcs,6kcs and
12kcs.The receiver is as would be expected of an Eddystone product, very well
engineered.Eddystone, have of course become famous for the smoothness of their tuning
mechanisms and the drive used in this communications receiver is a delight to use.The
tuning mechanism has spring loaded, split gears to prevent backlash and the reduction ratio
is approximately 140 to 1.Audio outputs are provided for both speaker and headphones. The
high quality of the engineering extends to the physical construction of the set, which
weighs 57lbs.The communication receiver requires an AC supply of 100-125 or 200-250
volts. The condition of this collectors receiver is very good both internally and
externally.Parts are all original and there are no modifications. As regards
performance, despite being nearly half a century old,it is still working to within the
original Eddystone specification. The price of this receiver is $645 US Dollars, which
includes the cost of air freight to the USA.
