RACAL Bargraph Tuning Indicator Model MA1105

The Racal MA1105 Bargraph Tuning Indicator is a solid state unit designed to display a receiver passband on a 104 LED bargraph.Although designed as an accessory for the range of Racal Communication Receivers,the MA1105 can be used with any other make of receiver compatable with the bargraph indicator’s input requirements (see below for details).Although only one LED is illuminated at any one time,the counting information is updated 10,000 times per second,and this gives the impression of a continuous display.The position of a received carrier within the passband, is measured using one of two scales,either + or – 500Hz or + or – 1kHz with respect to the carrier frequency.Satisfactory operation is only achieved when a single carrier is present within the passband.The MA1105 is therefore ideally suited to the accurate tuning of ;shift keyed,on/off keyed,AM and FAX transmissions.The MA1105 will operate from an IF at 1.4MHz or 100 kHz,or from an audio output based on a 2kHz centre frequency.For best results,an IF input should be selected in preference to an audio input.The unit is designed for rack mounting in a standard 19" cabinet and is 1U (45mm) high.This is an unusual item ,for either the collector of Racal equipment or a data comms.buff.It is in as new condition and in working order.A circuit diagram is included.The price is $295 US Dollars,which includes the cost of air freight to the USA.

RACAL Frequency Converter RA70

This unit,which is quite hard to find,is an essential piece of equipment for the Racal collector with an interest in FSK receiption.The Racal Company’s preferred choice of FSK Converter for use with their various receivers ,was the PV78B unit,made in England by the Plessey Company.The Plessey FSK converter has an input frequency of 14kc’s and the Racal RA70 Converter is designed to take the output from the Racal receiver at 100kc’s and convert this to 14kc’s.The converter uses 4 valves (tubes) and frequency stability is ensured by incorporation of a crystal oven in the converter oscillator circuit.Power requirements are 100-125V or 200-250 volts a.c.The unit,which is designed for standard 19" rack mounting,is in good condition and working order.The price for this currently scarce accessory,which includes the cost of air freight to the USA,is $235 U.S. Dollars.
