Marmion is a spacious and well equipped Victorian stone villa situated in the centre of the village of Fylingthorpe on the beautiful Yorkshire coast; at the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors and only ten minutes walk from Robin Hoods Bay.

Sleeping up to seven people Marmion is an ideal base for couples or families to take a short break or longer family holiday. Full week bookings commence on a Friday and our rates include gas, electricity, logs for the open fire and bed linen. Reduced rates are available for low occupancy.

We regret no pets are permitted in Marmion and smoking in strictly prohibited.

Accommodation

Marmion provides spacious centrally heated accommodation over four floors. From the front of the house (small patio with seats for warm summer evenings) seven steps lead up to the;


Ground Floor
Sitting room : - A spacious and light sitting room with a huge bay window, open fire (original marble surround), stripped pine floor, leather suite and rocking chairs. The sitting room is equipped with a TV, video player, DVD player and selection of family games.
Cloakroom: -Ground floor toilet with wash hand basin and separate cloakroom area.
Entrance hallway: - Entrance hallway with steps down to the basement kitchen and door to a small back yard and up to the first and second floors.

The Basement
Kitchen:-  A spacious farmhouse style kitchen with a bay window to the front, exposed stone walls, original beamed ceiling and ceramic tiled floor. A large pine dining table comfortably seats seven. A high chair is available. The kitchen is well equipped with a range (gas) cooker (two ovens), dishwasher, fridge/freezer, microwave, food processor, cafetiere.
Playroom :- A simply furnished room with settee and childs play table and mat. This room currently houses the washing machine.

First Floor
Double bedroom:- To the front of the house with wonderful views over to Ravenscar the double bedroom is a lovely sunny room in terracotta and cream with pine wardrobe, drawers and sleigh bed.
Triple bedroom:- To the rear of the house a childrens bedroom with a waterworld theme with a single bed, pine bunks and fitted pine cupboards and views across to the hillside.
A (travel) cot is available at no extra charge.
House bathroom:- To the front of the house with toilet, wash hand basin and bath. >Second Floor Twin bedroom:- With stunning views over the bay, village and to Ravenscar to the front and over the village and open country to the rear this light and spacious bedroom in pale green and cream has twin beds (can become double!), fitted wardrobes and Victorian wash hand basin stand.

Outside
Marmion is situated in the centre of the village set back from the road. Parking for one car is normally available immediately outside Marmion with further roadside parking being available nearby in the village. Amenities in the centre of the village include the village store and post office, village butchers, Fylingdales Inn and a small park with swings, roundabout and slide 150 metres down the lane. Further pubs, cafes and shops are ten minutes away in Robin Hoods Bay.

Local Area

Beaches
Local beaches include Robin Hoods Bay, Boggle Hole within 15 minutes walking time, Whitby and Scarborough are 5 and 15 miles away respectively.

Surfing
Surfing takes place at Sandsend and Scarborough south beaches.
Walking
Robin Hoods Bay is one end of the coast to coast walk and the Opportunities for walking in the surrounding areas are endless from the footpaths. There is the footpath/cycle track along the old Whitby to Scarborough Railway which follows the edge of the coast on most of its route. Bikes can be hired from just up the road in Hawsker.
Children's Activities
There are several leaflets in the cottage about various theme parks etc. Scarborough is full of attractions, there is the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and miles of beaches.
Pubs/Eating out
On your doorstep, The Fylingdales Inn in the village is a great local with a choice of ales and some lovely meals on the menu. In Robin Hoods Bay their are four other pubs to choose from, we recommend the Victoria for the food.
