Ingleton

operation Home guard weekend

July  7th & 8th  2007

With weeks of cold winds and rain, floods, thunder and lightning, the gods of war seemed to look down favourably on the little sleepy town of Ingleton, North Yorkshire, just for a weekend. The Sun came out, and the clouds vanished. This was the first real Home guard weekend at Ingleton. We were there last year as "guests" ( laugh out loud!!!!) of the Village committee, which did not go down well as we kind of stole their show at the village fair. So John and Elaine and numerous others, set about doing their own show in the Village, which turned out to be brilliant. Enough re-enactors and vehicles turned up to a closed off village centre, to make everything look very war time looking.  We had a long run out on the Sunday, round the little villages, with all the big stuff, MAC and Jimmy's leading the way, and the horde of jeeps trailing in their shadow. I'll write more soon, in the mean time, some pics..................
