Reproduction 1st aid Sulfa Packets

These sachets were used extensively throughout the war. Used to help sterilise and clean combat injuries and wounds, sachets like these can be seen being used in films like 'Saving Private Ryan' and 'Band of Brothers'. The sachets are supplied empty, but with the bottoms open so they can be filled (I'm not about start posting sachets of powder all over the place!). The best substitutes I've found so far in terms of appearance are either fine salt or better still Canderel or Splenda sugar substitutes (which are a near perfect matches and taste nice!). To use the sachets the soldier / medic would pull back or tear off the red tab and sprinkle the crystals on the open wound before applying the field bandage. These would make the ultimate finishing touch to your re-enactment / living history gear, a must for your first aid pouch!
Oh and by the way , in the above picture, the sachet at the top and furthest from the
camera is an original WWII one, and the rest are mine!
