Matt's Handy Stuff
This section contains the other stuff that doesn't really fit into the other sections, and isn't big enough in it's own right for it's own section. |
Seems ridiculously simple this one, but I find it invaluable!
When designing stripboard layouts it's always tricky to try and visualise the tracks under the board. I simply print out this image to A4 size (giving approx 2:1 scale) and draw the design on top. It makes for quickly drafted boards, and prevents that all too common 'I've run out of space' headache!
Probably the simplest and quickest way of incorporating a decent power supply into a project is to use the humble 3 terminal regulator. Trying to remember which pin is which almost impossible! Here's a reminder for the majority of TO-220 78xx or 79xx types.
In the same vein, also included are a number of other general component pin outs that I often use, and rarely have to hand.
Including..... 78 & 79 regulators, 2N3702, BC550, 741, 555, MOSFET switching
Maybe it's just me, but whenever I try to convert capacitance values I always end up a factor of ten out! This simple little table removes all error.
Not really computers or electronics at all, but I find it useful to know what is equal to what when buying screws.
IC protectors are a type of solid state fuse often seen in consumer electronic equipment.
Degrees of ingress protection for enclosures, connectors etc.
Speaks for itself really.
