Riley's Bible.

Thomas 'Rattlesnake' Riley has served in the Texas Rangers for a decade now, alrgely patrolling the Missouri Territories.
His exploits seem to have carried further than his compadriots and as such Riley is well regarded within the organisation, what most (Including Riley) do not know is that his very survival ove this time has been by the blessing of the Rangers Bible he carries within this breast pocket. The Bible (Now his second) has deflected four fatal shots, the first copy is in the hands of one Marshal Perrin a new Ranger, while curiously Riley's second bible now seems to guard him.
Power:   Any time someome engages the bearer in combat they suffer a -4 from all attack rolls to hit the bearer.
Taint:  The bearer gains an aura of power & respectability giving +2 to Overawe rolls. This however is not always a good thing as the jon of the Ranger is to help the people not intimidate them,  thus the cowpoke suffers a -2 to all attempts at friendly persuasion or diplomacy.
You are also a prime target for any young varmits wantin to make a name for themselves, as if you have Gunslingers Renown: 1.
