30.03.00 : better class of email

0 0 Thurs. 30th March

A better class of email, yours is; like doing drudgery with the radio on and - well you know how it is sometimes - suddenly out of the blue something gets through - unexpected electric blast of music usually, and you sit there teeth gritted, sobbing as often as not. Anyway, it all reminds me of the books Ihaven't read: all the books I have ever begun to read - starting in the middle, towards the end, put down, forgotten, retrieved, lost altogether; all the books given up without allowing half a chance - and the relatively view, at random, due to some coincidence or mischance that I may have read through. Why Cocaine Nights, why a whole volume of Father Brown stories, why Bel-Ami, why so smitten by The Erasers? - only because of a train, or an illness or some other lapse.
So to say, these books we live in - how do you suppose we come by them? Like this?

Kevin
