We've had several requests from members to set up a
penpal scheme, so here it is. If you'd like to write to anyone on the list, please write
or email into the group office quoting the
penpal's reference number; also write or email
in if you would like to feature in this section in future editions. We will accept email
penpals as well as snail-mail, so if you write to us by post, please include your email
address if you have one.
Sadly, we cannot be an exchange point for contact between email & postal penpals.
Disclaimer We at ME Support cannot accept any responsibility for anything that happens as a consequence of this service. We operate this service only as a contact reference point and cannot determine if the description of anyone who wants to subscribe to this list is true.
Hi, my name is Karen. I am 24 years old and I live
with my parents. I am looking for a penpal of any age from anywhere. I have not yet been
diagnosed as having ME but I have similar symptoms and I am unable to work at the moment.
I have 2 cats that keep me company throughout the day. One of them is only 18 months old,
so she can be a little monster. I collect anything to do with teddies, especially
Cherished Teddies. I enjoy cross-stitch and Plastic Canvas work and I love trying out
different crafts. So, if you have a few spare minutes why not drop me a line, I would love
to hear from you.
Hope to hear from you soon, Karen.

I would be most grateful if someone , especially a young lady of around Alex's age , 17
years old, who would like to write to him. Preferably by email as he has problems
writing. His interests are mainly Music, he has quite a collection of CD's. He likes to
create tapes for his friends, loves his dog Lucy and loves programmes like 'Pet Rescue'.
He is very sensitive and a caring soul, lots of fun with a great sense of humour. Since
being ill he has taken up doing jigsaws, something he would never have considered before,
but now really enjoys. He used to love cycling but hasn't been on a bike for over 2 years.

My name is Jo, I am 30 years old, but not over the hill!! I have had ME for many years and
it really gets me down.
I would like someone to write to who has ME, to share laughter & tears. I love music,
I play bass guitar (when I'm well enough) in a jazz ensemble for an hour and a half each
week....thankfully my hands work a little better than my legs, but I am quite disabled on
the whole and my energy levels are very low.
It would be especially nice to hear from other musicians who have this condition, but I
will answer all! Please write soon.

28 from Solihull,West Midlands,been suffering for about five years,traced back to a
mystery virus I had and was never explained, used to be really active, going the
gym, playing football going out alot, now days I just dream about what I used to do.I have
not been officially diagnosed by a doctor even though I have been quite ill of late.
Having seen some people wait years to be diagnosed I have done my own research after
having all the usual tests by a doctor and being constantly fobbed off with that 'get
yourself together and stop wasting my time look'.Even tried different doctors and no
luck,I am currently seeing a reflexologist who believes that I am not making it all up in
my mind.
It would be nice to speak to others who understand this.

Hi, My name is Gidget, I live in Washington State. I'm 50 going on 29. I am new to
computers & the net but my brother says I'm picking it up fast. This is also my first
time on a pen pal list. I have likes & dislikes like everyone else but I'm not
necessarily looking for a pen pal that has the same interests becuz I like to learn other
things. I'm a perpetual learner. Love to research. On a personal note: I am married, have
4 children & 14 grandchildren, all adorable, of course. I live out in the country,
hidden in the forests of the Olympic Peninsula. I have always been a stay at home mom
because, I suppose, being a perpetual learner, I wanted to teach my own children & not
have others do it. I share with them all that I learn. Anyway, would love to here from any
who want to just visit over the net, get your coffee & send me an email & I'll get
my coffee & email you right back. Mizpah... email only, ref A009

Hi,my name is Greg. I am thirty years old and I live on my own. I have a cat called Felix
who is black and white and three goldfish.I have recently been diagnosed with ME. I have
always liked to keep myself fit with running, weightlifting, swimming and hiking, but with
not being very well for a while I have been unable to do these things.I also enjoy going
out with my friends at the weekends and having a good time.I think my ME was triggered due
to a stomach complaint which took doctors two years to diagnose, which gave me a lot of
pain and discomfort. I was still going to work at the time which was difficult. This
eventually gave me a nervous breakdown which stopped me going to
work for six months. It also ended a relationship I had with a girl who I was living with.
I eventually ended up having an operation on my stomach which I had when my nerves were
still bad from the nervous breakdown. A few months after my operation the symptoms of ME
started which was initialy a very sore throat and fatigue. For the last twelve months I
have been doing exercise to try and fight off the fatigue only to find out now that
strenuous exercise should be avioded, because my relapses
gradualy got worse. I am now unable to do my job at present due to the fatigue associated
with ME
If any one would like to be my get in touch with me I would love to make new friends and
have a good chat.

I would like to make e-mail friends. I have had M.E. for 7+ years, having worked
full-time as an administrator up until recently. I've crashed temporarily, (if you know
what I mean!). I live in a lovely little flat, with my cat Ti-Moune. I have faired very
well with my illness I feel, what with family support, friends and many prayers, and would
like to help others who are suffering, by passing on tips on how to stay reasonably well,
and how to stay sane!

Hi there! My name is Joey, I'm 31 years, and a
"mature" student in the Midlands. I fell ill last December, and have since been
back and forth to the doctors, trying to find out what's wrong with me! Finally, I have
been diagnosed with either CFS or Fibromyalgia. Apparantly, my doctor & consultant do
not want to "label" me. I seem to have more spare time on my hands as I get more
tired. I would enjoy a penpal to compare illness with, as this is a relatively new thing
for me. My boyfriend is very supportive, but he couldn't understand the aches and pains I
suffer. I have a loving 10-year old son, though it's hard being a mother when I have no
energy. I would like to have a penpal that I can be honest with, and who will listen. By
the way, I'm a great listener myself!
