PSALTERY
A reconstruction of the Hans Memling Psaltery in the "Angels Making Music" paintings in Antwerp Museum. This is the hog's head style of Psaltery that appeared in 11th century Europe, taking on the trapezoid form, likened to the face of a pig. For performance it could be held across the breast or placed on the lap. There a fifteen double courses of brass strings, tuned with rosewood pegs. The four decorative roses are let into the front. These can be simplified or abandoned according to requirements.
