Who Are Magog?

MAGOG are a womens Morris side based in Horsham, West Sussex and have been dancing since 1974 throughout Sussex and many other parts of Great Britain. Our international scene has encompassed Brittany, lreland, Holland, Germany, Jersey and Denmark.

Magog dance Four traditions :- Stave, North West clog, Garland and Cotswold, we are also establishing our very own Horsham tradition.

Practicing

Our practice season runs from Sept - April on Tuesday evenings, at 8.00 pm, in Mannings Heath Village Hall. New dancers and musicians always welcome.


Traditions

Cotswold Morris Dancing as we all know and love. Done with the hankies, sometimes folded in a very special way(!!).

Northwest Clog From the north west of England. Processional dances done with wavers or garlands.

Garland Dances with the hoops origin from various places

Stave These dances are performed with long broom handles and hail from Dorset.

Horsham Tradition Anything else not covered by the above. Dances we have "made up" ourselves.
