Duo-Clarinet & Piano; Solo Clarinet; Solo Piano
Gervase de Peyer has enjoyed a most distinguished career which has spanned some fifty years, and now stands demonstrably as the foremost exponent of the Clarinet, and one of the finest musicians alive. He has performed and taught World-wide, and has given the premières of many works for his instrument (solo, chamber and orchestral), the most recent of which was the brilliant Concerto for Clarinet by Edwin Roxburgh, heard on August 21st at the 1996 Three Choirs Festival in Worcester Cathedral (BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the Composer).
Formerly Principal Clarinet of the London Symphony Orchestra (and Director of the LSO Wind Ensemble), Gervase de Peyer is now the World's most recorded clarinettist, and was co-founder of the Melos Ensemble of London, of which Gwenneth Pryor is also a member.
Further information about Gervase de Peyer is now available from his personal website.
Gwenneth Pryor is Australian by birth and has become well-known to British audiences through her many recitals, concerto performances and broadcasts. A graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium, Gwenneth Pryor won the prize for the most outstanding student of the year, and also gained a scholarship to the Royal College of Music in London, where she won the Hopkinson Gold Medal. She has a distinguished discography, having recorded extensively with Gervase de Peyer (with whom she has been duo partner for over thirty years), the violinist Carlos Villa, the English Chamber, London Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestras.
Gervase de Peyer and Gwenneth Pryor have recorded many fine performances for the Chandos and Radiant Mastery labels. They also broadcast extensively - most recently on the 3rd of July 2001 for BBC Radio 3 (the Gerald Finzi "Bagatelles", featured as part of the Finzi profile in "Composer of the Week").
