Starts at 7.30pm till 9.00pm for banjo workshop followed
by a picking session from 9.00pm till closing time:
everyone is welcome to join in
purely acoustic instruments: i.e.
guitar, banjo, mandolin, dobro, fiddle: etc.
BLUEGRASS MUSIC WORKSHOP
HOW THE WORKSHOP IS RUN
The workshop or practice sessions were started by a local
banjo and guitar teacher, Eamon Walsh, in order that people learning to
play bluegrass music could practice playing together.
They are run the same as normal picking sessions, with
the difference being that the tunes are played more slowly to begin with
then speed up.
The usual form is for one person to start the tune, then
everyone who knows the tune take turns in playing a break, or solo. Those
who don’t know the tune well enough just jion in playing backup - that
is, plucking or strumming the cords.
Here is a list of some of the tunes we usually practice.

As the workshop finishes at 9.00pm the main Bluegrass and Country and Western music session begins. Everyone is welcome to play along, sing along, give a song or tune, or just listen.
