| The former high altar, of marble and alabaster, was installed in 1889 replacing a gothic style plaster one which was sent to the then new mission in Rishton. It was designed by Fr Cuthbert Almond and made by J Rawscliffe, stonemason from Preston. Below the altar is a depiction of St Joseph on his deathbed; St Joseph is the patron saint of a happy death. The altar was consecrated in 1893. |
