History of the Festival
The Festival started in 1986 following a concert in the town by Anthony Hose who had founded the Buxton Festival. He was very attracted to the town and felt that its situation, facilities and history made it the perfect setting for an arts festival. A wide range of artists has appeared in the Festivals since, including Dame Moura Lympany, Victoria de los Angeles, Sir Geraint Evans, Osian Ellis, Rebecca Evans, Tito Beltran, Prunella Scales, Humphrey Lyttelton, Jacques Loussier, Jens Lindeman, Pierre Amoyal, Rosemary Joshua and Rita Cullis..
Regular performers have been the Welsh Chamber Orchestra (conducted by Anthony Hose), the Beaumaris Band, the Poetry Trio and the Monteverdi Singers.
The Festival has featured Young Artists Recitals, which have given audiences a chance to hear a range of talented young singers and instrumentalists before they become famous. Recent Young Artists appearing at Beaumaris include Jonathan Lemalu, Alison Balsom, Natasha Marsh, Alexandra Wood, Huw Watkins, Andrew Kennedy, Jennifer Pike, Marcin Arendt and Maximiliano Martin.
