Notes :-

O.R.P. PIORUN was built by John Brown & Company of Clydebank and completed in 1940 for the Royal Navy as HMS NERISSA but was transferred to the Polish Navy as a replacement for one of their vessels which had been lost in action. She happened to be back at John Brown's yard for repairs in March 1941 and on the night of 13th March, along with other ships in the yard at that time, put up a terrific barrage against the Luftwaffe air raid. The memorial is a lasting reminder of that action.
