Thank you for visiting this new extension to the Great War Books' web-site. Through the following pages, as they grow, I will endeavour to provide information which will be of use to those of you researching the war's history or planning a visit to the Western Front. It is my intention to develop this part of the web site as a resource for:
Teachers organising school groups.
Students and other individual researchers.
Individual travellers to France & Belgium.
Groups of adults.
I hope the contents provided here will enable you to make your research and visits informative, enjoyable and fulfilling. My main purpose in developing this extension to the original site is to put information in your hands. I want those of you who use books and other media to research into the Great War's history, and who then plan battlefield visits, to be empowered to make the most of your research and travel.
On the following pages I will include information designed to put you in touch with people and organisations. These people specialise in the fields of providing information about or visiting the Western Front. The only criteria I have employed is whether I know these people personally, have used their services in the research for books and publications, and whether they are enthusiastic in providing a quality service which will enhance your research or visit experience.
Without being presumptuous, I want you to know that I can advise on the organisation of school groups and sensible itineraries for parties travelling to the Western Front. As an ex school teacher and author of seven books on this period I think I have the credentials to help ensure that your school group's arrangements and the historical content are tailored to your student's needs. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss the organisation of a school or adult group visit.
