About me

I wrote children’s stories while my three children were growing up, moving on to adult short stories for several national magazines. Winning a short story competition in FAMILY CIRCLE encouraged me to start writing seriously and since then my stories and articles have been commissioned regularly.

I was brought up in Poole, in Dorset, and since then have lived in various places including Cairo, in Egypt. I now live with my husband and two cats near Winchester in Hampshire.

Besides writing I love travelling and have tried my hand as an antiques dealer. I am also an artist; see some of my paintings in my gallery.

About My Books

DEATH IS THE CURE

Death is the Cure, my next novel, to be published by Robert Hale Publishers before year end, is the second in my cosy mystery series: Charlotte Richmond Investigates … In this novel Charlotte — a resourceful young widow who was brought up in Australia but now lives in Hampshire — goes off to Bath where she is soon up to her ears in mayhem and murder.

MURDER MOST WELCOME

Murder Most Welcome, my latest novel, published by Robert Hale Publishers, is an historic novel about Charlotte Richmond.

Outwardly a grieving young Victorian widow, Charlotte Richmond is concealing some scandalous secrets when she arrives at Finchbourne Manor to start a respectable new life with her husband’s family. The wealthy Richmonds must never discover that her husband Frampton’s recent death in the Indian Mutiny came as a great relief to Charlotte. Nor must they hear about the rumours circulating in the army regarding both his scandalous behaviour and money missing from the officers’ mess. His death has also been the subject of speculation and Charlotte must take care not to spill any secrets. Above all she must make certain that nobody in her new life hears of her own adventurous upbringing in Australia, knowing that any whisper about her past would cause her to be sent packing. When the past catches up with Charlotte, and a murder is committed, she begins to fear for her own life.

SCUBA DANCING

SCUBA DANCING, my first published novel, is a comedy set in a Hampshire village. A number of lonely people, of all ages, form an unusual social group, initially just for company, but culminating in a fund-raising effort for a very unorthodox cause.

SCUBA DANCING, is now available in Large Print and Audio Book editions, as well as in the original paperback edition.

The Large Print edition is published by Isis Soundings, the Audio Book is published by Isis Publishing and the original paperback edition is published by Transita Ltd.

I do hope you’ll read it or listen to it, and enjoy it.
