“The vocals and keyboards
sure do remind one of Yes but there is a spacier Pink Floyd-ish element
that really gives this album its special character. Sort of like The
Wall meets Going for the One.” [ZNR]
“The band
actually sound similar to Yes but not in the clone way that Starcastle did,
more like imagining that if Yes existed in a parallel universe, this might
be the musical direction they could have taken. This is how they might
sound, only with a bit more variation and less intensity, but still with a
sound full of rich textures and excellent compositions plus good vocals
from Paul Ford. This UK band had the potential to be big during the second
phase of prog rock in the late 70’s/early 80’s, but like many other
excellent bands, it never quite happened. Pity!” [CD Services]
“A graceful record that one
loves to rediscover from time to time... Kinesis’ productions are a
blessing of the gods for British-prog lovers.” [Acid Dragon]
“Imagine, a
British neo-prog band that sounds more like Yes than Marillion! This
release deserves high marks for the group’s emphasis on melodic
songwriting... tunes you can actually hum along to in a cheerful frame of
mind.” [Progression]
“Multi-Story were a British
band who recorded East/West in 1985, despite which, a mellotron is
listed on the equipment list! The vocalist, on most occasions, appears to
have been greatly influenced by Jon Anderson, with the music revolving
around the almost ’electronic’ and melodic keyboard sounds of Rob Wilsher.
This release should appeal to those who enjoy the new crop of UK
progressive bands, such as Castanarc, Galahad, ABWH, and the like.”

Five reviewers
- Five happy faces [Carpe Diem (German-language)]
Nice Pink Floyd-influenced
Yes-sounding album from England in 1985. Take 30% "Going For the
One" add 50% "90125" and finish it off with 20%
"Animals" and you get the idea. Not the most original leaf on the
tree, but a nice shiny one.
Multi-Story
gives us the track The Wire from their eighties debut album East/West. This
is a powerful guitar orientated track supported with a solid Wakemanesque
keyboard work from Rob Wilsher providing a full sound. Multi-Story were
once hailed as the new Yes, although from this there are hints of various
prog bands combining to a style that is very much their own. Vocalist Paul
Ford has a good strong voice too and from this offering I envisage them as
a great band to have seen live.
