Megatar, Stick™ & Warr Links Etc...

MOBIUS TONEWEAVER

The Chapman Stick™ was a radical concept in stringed musical instruments, played by tapping with both hands. This allows a single player to play bass, lead/melody lines and harmonic accompaniment simultaneously.

More recently, other instruments utilising this principle have appeared on the market, notably the Warr Guitar (see link below), and now the Mobius Megatar, for which I am acting as UK distributor - visit Orphic Touch-Style Music for more details

I have been playing the Stick for around 9 years, and I use both Stick and Megatar regularly with my band Stund!. My main Megatar is a MaxTapper in 5ths-bass tuning with a 4Bart (Bartolini) pickup array upgrade. My Stick is a purpleheart "Grand" (i.e. 12-string), with standard hardware and tuning. For amplification I use a Peavey T-MAX combo for the bass strings (along with my bass guitars) and a Peavey Express combo for the melody strings.

Pictured is the Mobius ToneWeaver, which features the Ralph Novak "Fanned Frets" system and 4ths (bass bottom) tuning.

For more information, or to contact the players and makers of these and related instruments, check out the websites listed at The Hub at Orphic Touch-Style Music.
