Album Review

The Cod Lie Down In Norway

The Cod... ,the opening track of the album, fuses an eclectic mix of musical styles and gives rare insight into the perplexing nature of the migratory habits of the cod.

The Braunston Sea-Shanty of 1994

Twenty two minutes of walloping prog rock, this track concerns itself with alien attempts at contact with the inhabitants of earth, not all of whom, of course, are human. Samples of this track can be down loaded.

The opening section combines a 25/8 time signature with early fish period "marillionesque" vocal delivery.
The piece then moves on to the sea-shanty itself. One can almost smell the ozone, as it blends with bagpipes, squeeze box and a crew of drunken mariners(one of whom has a wooden leg). This section marks the debut of the Fylingdale Early Warning Male Voice Choir all of whom are on top form.

And so on to the first attempts at contact with the inhabitants of a small fishing village (sleepy in their ignorance of events unfurling only a short distance out to sea). The villagers are dumstruck (i.e that the act was commited in the mistaken belief that it was a vicarious or surrogate- if, for instance the victim were a psyvised or reviewer representation).

A reprise of the opening section heralds the end of the song and indeed the whole village which vanishes without trace. One lone ship and its crew follow the sub-aquatic life-forms into the ocean to unite with the aliens, (developing gills in the process).

The Snails Head Cut-Off (part 1).

The Snails head cut-off(part one) is a heads down no-nonsense slice of space rock with a big toe dipped in the sea of Calvert period Hawkwind.

Lyrically it explores the conflict between Humankinds need for spiritual development and its need to perform ordinary household tasks whilst living under a Nixon style administration.

The Wind Of Time (in my sail).

Becalmed on the seamingly bottomless sea of the sub-concious mind, our hero scans the purple horizon in search of sanctuary. Jumping overboard he swims within the space between moments, finally, he sights an island and crawling ashore he sees his final goal, his own inner temple.

Samples of this track can be down loaded.

Tritone Theory And The Turtle Experience

Turtle Om's magnum opus!!. This track takes the listener everywhere in the universe and brings them back in under twenty minutes. Samples of this track can be down loaded.

Primerally this song commerates the Apollo moon missions of the late 1960s/early 1970s but finds time to stop off at a music college near you, to expound a few of the more puzzling aspects of the "nature of perception of audio stimuli" picking up some exciting jazz piano noodling along the way.

Neo classical sits along side rock and jazz, fused together by the bands love of Star Trek, mellotrons and hammer dulcimer.

Qihara

Mars gone wrong! Free-jazz found alive and well and listening to the second round draw of the FA cup on the radio in the east midlands. Nuff said?
